About Sara
Filmmaker. Author. Advocate.
Sara Banyan has spent decades turning her own story of survival into a roadmap for healing — through film, writing, and direct advocacy.
Sara Banyan is a trauma advocate, filmmaker, and author whose life's work centers on breaking the silence around childhood sexual abuse. Drawing from her own experience as a survivor, Sara has dedicated herself to creating work that validates, educates, and empowers.
Her documentary film I Believe You — produced alongside her former trauma specialist Will Randle, LCSW — shines a light on the epidemic of childhood sexual trauma and the evidence-based pathways toward healing. The film is currently in production and returning to edit for its third cut.
Sara is also the author of the companion book I Believe You, a memoir-driven prescriptive nonfiction work that introduces the 3-Breath Protocol, the Rewire Method, and the Tap In / Tap Out framework — tools developed through decades of coaching and personal healing. The book features a foreword by Will Randle, LCSW, and pre-orders open fall 2026.
The film has been recognized with the Mental Health Impact Award at the Ethos Film Awards 2024, named a Roy W. Dean Grant Finalist, and is fiscally sponsored by the International Documentary Association — the largest documentary-specific fiscal sponsor in the world.
